OK, so most of you know i have another LJ, chaa1

because recently i've just been double-posting (or x-posting) to both, and i just made my chaa1 account a paid account, i'm pretty much switching over to that. i'll still post here, and i'll add everyone whos on my friends list here onto my friends list there, so don't worry about it.

i'll still keep this journal for old times sake, and will most likely update it every once and a while.

to reach my new journal, please go to

www.livejournal.com/users/chaa1

thanks, guys!!

UPDATES

Depart Glen Ellyn Train Station @ 12:27 PM train

Arrive at Ogilvie Transportation Center @ 1:12 PM

Wind around Chicago and find our way to Landmark Century Center Cinemas (Century Center Shopping Mall)

Watch Brokeback Mountain @ 3:45 PM

Catch cab (if we're late) back to Ogilvie Station

Depart Downtown Chicago @ 6:40 PM train

Arrive at Glen Ellyn Train Station @ 7:23 PM

~~--~~

ALTERNATE RETURN TIME:

Depart Downtown Chicago @ 7:40

Arrive at Glen Ellyn Train Station @ 8:21

~~--~~
the alternate return time would be much easier and avoid us having to pitch in for a cab ride back after the movie, but i have to confirm scheduling with a friend before i can say that for sure. option #1 is default, i'm afraid

And there you have it! Scheduled and posted. I've got maps and stuff for twitchy parents, if they wanna make sure we dont get raped or anything. OH! and i have a question: do any of you wanna walk down N Halsted street? i know it's risque, but we'll be a big group and it could be fun... Otherwise we'd just go along LaSalle Blvd. safer but slightly more boring. either way, we'll get there.
Ah! I almost forgot:
Average Price Per Person:
Ticket (RT, based on 10 ride pass): $ 1.70
Ticket (LC Cinemas) : $10.00-$15.00
Dinner (Cheap, guys! ^_^) : $ 5.50
CAB FARE! (Per Person) : $ 5.50
Total : $22.70-$27.70
so bring about $30

...

CHICAGO TRIP TO BOYSTOWN IS OFF.

sorry, guys. not enough interest/too much conflict.

I'll try to get Thursday working. musicalsarcasm, i think i can work out scheduling so I at least can be back in time. i know hilary wanted to go, so maybe if we just move it all up a few hours we can make the timing work. I really want to go see BBM downtown, so... I'll try to make it work.

CALL ME at 630-338-6006 (or post here if you can't reach a phone) before thursday if you're interested. It's most likely to be a $30 trip, including metra/cinema tickets and a small dinner. I've got maps etc. if your parents are worried shitless about you making the trip downtown.

I hope to GOD i can make this all work out, or i'm just taking the train down myself to go see the show! ;P

did any of you guys send me a text message? My screen is busted so i cant read anything but the first letter in the third and fourth row.

It looked like there were capital letters and therefore assumably important.

If that was your text, please leave a comment with the message so i can read it!

Thanks!

Back from BOA!

hooo so fun. it seemed like 99% of it was spent on a coach bus, and suprisingly that was a GOOD THING. it took me a whole term to find out that almost everyone in marching band was freakin' cool. when i went to the MBcamp, i was like 'oh, god. its clique city' and just kind of stayed in my comfort zone. turns out, they're amazing people that are like a second family. i just wish i'd been in marching band since my freshman year! *d-oh* i was on the Clark bus. the 'cool' kids were on the Louis bus. so... i guess i just went against my clique comment. REWIND: ok, so i guess there are cliques in MB, but its more like, if given preference, they'd pick their friends to sit by etc, but when it comes to socializing they're hella fun with everyone. ok.

the pre-performance (i have no idea how to spell that, come to think of it) from where i was standing looked sub-par to what i know we're capable of, but mr Hengesh and the DM's said it was an amazing show. i guess i just happened to see all the shit, yah know? and if that was all the mistakes there were, then we're in pretty good. we didn't place or qualify, but we never expected to. at least we weren't last. er... well, we dont know that yet. but the way it sounds we shouldn't be. *ponder*

i spent a good ten minutes talking to mr. hengesh about applying for drum major my senior year. we had a great chat, and he conviced me i had more than a decent chance. that made me so happy i hugged him. like, i thought i would make it to consideration, but he was like 'you've got drive, a will, a good showy disposition, and you're a hell of a lot more interesting to listen to than grotto'. ha. i laugh. grotto is a funny funny boy.

so that's what i'm doin' next year. drum major or section leader. either way, i'm happy!

As for the rest of the week:
I am HELLA TIRED and i have time for nothing short of breathing, school, and the play. chrarrg.
my mom keeps screaming about how bleaching my hair will ruin my life. her counter? buying a wig. mhrr. whatevs, as long as i dont have to pay for it. ^_^

You Are 80% Boyish and 20% Girlish

You have a tough exterior - and usually a tough interior to match it.
You're no nonsense, illogical, and often assertive.
Sometimes you can't understand women at all, even if you're a woman yourself.
You see things rationally, and don't like to let your emotions get the best of you. (even if you are a bit of a drama queen/king!)

i'm about to be a self-serving, egotistical, psychotic bitch, but here i go:

i fucking nailed the audition. if i dont make it onto that callback list, i'll be sincerely shocked. that said, i don't think i'm made to play any of the characters as a typecast, so i wouldn't be at all sad if i didn't actually make the play.

i bet peter a pack of gum that i'd make callbacks and then not get the production, just like last time. its just the way i work. but thats ok, 'caus three more and i'm guarenteed my 1 out of ten success!! ^_^

good luck to all of you who tried out for S + S, and even more luck to all of you brave enough to attempt the musical!! callbacks posted on thursday, so fingers crossed. I'm willing to bet a couple of you will be on there.

You know what I’ve come to intensely dislike yet guiltlessly admire in the past three days? Books about nothing. Quite honestly, I believe that’s what the English teachers are attempting to impose upon us this year. Books about nothing.
Huckleberry Fin? About nothing, really. Plot, yes. Intent? mmm... maybe. Point? Nada.
The Great Gatsby? Most definitely about nothing. Plot? No. Intent? Fuck no. Point? You must be KIDDING ME.

I suppose 'The Great Gatsby' is the next step in literary analysis, but I prefer to think of it as something I use to keep my water glass off the table. Quite frankly, the first third of the book inspired only a single thought (other than 'holy shit, I need to learn more of these big words'): "Does this fucking book have a fucking point?"
Three days and almost an entire book later, I come to my epiphany. NO. The book does not have a point. Its existence is based solely in the idea that someone back in the stone age of literature read it and said "Shit guys, I totally cannot understand the first fourteen paragraphs of this book. Let’s make it a classic!!!" For of course, every student knows that if something is completely incomprehensible then it must simply be far too intelligent. The same is true with abstract art. people assume that the highest form of expression is abstract art, so they paint two purple squiggles on a canvas and name it, for those in doubt as to the contents, "fourty-year-old-woman-lounging-beside-her-mansion-after-the-death-of-her-fourth-spaniel-joe-following-her-appendectomy-the-month-previous-(in-acrylics)"
... the fuck?

But I digress. I’m actually quite fond of Gatsby, truth be told. As much as I hate to admit it. It is a love/hate relationship, however. Something about the intensely concentrated bouts of literacy followed by the almost incoherent thought-splats create a dynamic that is, at worst, boggling. At its best, it creates more of an ebb-and-flow of characters and places, and confuses the reader just enough to make sense.
That aside, I find it a huge thwack to my ego to realize that I require a dictionary to adequately comprehend parts of the book. So far I’ve looked up three words. It makes me feel quite unintelligent. The flipside is that I’m so ADHD (just kidding) that I find it quite easy to follow what little 'plot-line' (did I just say that?!) F. Scott Fitzgerald does employ.

To those that have read the books for English 3H, let me know what you thought about them. To those that have yet to read them... well, there is some advice:

Huckleberry Fin: just... keep... reading. That’s all I can say. It’s tedious, and horribly mind-draining in parts, but the language is really easy and the plot is a cinch to grasp. It just takes so damn LONG. Especially TOM. God, I want to strangle that boy. Poor Jim!

The Great Gatsby: I can almost guarantee you that the book will make NO sense up until the party. None whatsoever. It’s just rambling. Get past page 61 and you're home-free! (Sort of)
